Privacy Policy

Flicker is a personal, non-commercial iOS app. There is no Flicker-run server, no account system, and no analytics or advertising SDKs of any kind. This page explains, plainly, what actually happens to your data.

What stays on your device

Everything Flicker remembers about you (your Watched list, Saved list, recently-shown history, streaming region, and settings) is stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage. None of it is sent to us, because there is no "us" to send it to: Flicker has no backend server.

What leaves your device, and why

• TMDb. Every recommendation, search, and film detail comes from The Movie Database's API. The questions you answer are translated into a search query (genres, runtime, release year) and sent to TMDb over HTTPS. No personal identifier is attached to these requests beyond what any API call inherently carries (like your IP address, which TMDb sees as any web service would).
• Letterboxd (optional). If you choose to connect a Letterboxd username in Settings, that username is used to fetch your public diary feed directly from Letterboxd, so your watched films can be excluded from recommendations. This only happens if you enter a username yourself. Letterboxd has no public API for this, so this reads their public RSS feed, the same way any RSS reader would.

What Flicker does not do

• No account creation, login, or password of any kind.
• No analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs.
• No access to your contacts, location, camera, or microphone.
• No selling, sharing, or monetizing of any data, because none is collected in the first place.

Third parties

TMDb's and Letterboxd's own privacy policies govern how they handle requests made to their services. Flicker is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by either.

Children's privacy

Flicker is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, since it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If Flicker's data practices ever change (for example, if a backend is added in the future), this page will be updated and the date above will change accordingly.
